ENGLISH
LANGUAGE ELIGIBILITY
I
studied IELTS for a couple of months and I appeared the IELTS examination on 19th
March, 2022 in which I scored 7.5 overall. (L: 8.5, R: 8.0, W: 6.5, S: 6.0) .
REASONS FOR NOT
CHOOSING HOME COUNTRY, NEPAL: -
I had a headstrong determination that I didn’t
want to learn in Nepal, as the most disturbed and undermanaged sector after
health is the education sector. Even in and after the pandemic situation, many
students have lost 2-3 years due to strict provision of physical written exams
which was impossible during the pandemic. On the other hand, the online classes
being run were equally ineffective as Nepal has still some rural places where
internet connection and even mobile network connections were scarcely
available. I have witnessed the online classes of some of my friends and elders
and sadly, the teachers were inexperienced and had a lot of trouble during the
classes that resulted in unproductive classes. The, aspiring Information
Technology and studying in the to-be tech friendly country was the main reason
I chose to study overseas developed countries.
I don’t deny the fact that the education of
Nepal is evolving and exploring the outer world but I must always point out the
fact that, it is happening in a drastic slow manner. The vocational education
provider, CTEVT has announced revised Diploma of Information Technology course
in the year 2018, however the course lasts for three full years and SEE
graduates can also apply. This one requirement of SLC/SEE graduates being able
to apply for the course will make my higher secondary education’s degree
useless and my two years seems to go in vain. Also, the time period is three
years and if I chose to study Bachelor, the one year when added onto the study
duration, I will be a Bachelor graduate.
Then I shifted my consideration to pursuing
Bachelor’s in Nepal, there are abundant of colleges in Nepal
offering a number of computers and IT related course. The courses like: - BSc.
CSIT (Bachelor of Science Computer Science and Information Technology) is
provided by Deerwalk Institute of Technology , Kathford
Colleges of Engineering ,
New Summit College ,
Amrit Science Campus etc.
which are affiliated to Tribhuvan University. On the other hand, the courses
like BCIS (Bachelor of Computer Information Systems), BCA (Bachelor of Computer
Applications) and BE. IT (Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology) is
provided by Apex College (,
Nepal College of Information and Technology , Cosmos
College of Management and Technology affiliated to Pokhara University. There are also colleges like British College ,
Islington College ,
Softwarica College and ISMT College affiliated to the University of UK providing the courses like BIT and BSc. IT.
Apart from this, there is Kathmandu College of Management providing BBIT (Bachelor of Business Information Technology) course which is
affiliated to University of Thailand. These all are technical courses with IT
at their core. Some colleges such as Nepal Commerce Campus ,
KIST College ,
Prime College and St. Xavier’s College also offer Bachelor of Information Management
(BIM).
However,
these courses are not as practically supported as one would want them to be.
The lecturers are mostly novices and do not have a lot of experience; they
spend a vast majority of the course duration making the students parrot the
contents from the books. Research-based education is rarely provided in Nepal.
The Nepalese education system focuses on books that can pass the exam by
remembering notes, ancient questions, and books, rather than research and
practice projects. I grew up that way in the last few years. The teaching
system is not fully developed and the education mainly focuses on theoretical
knowledge.
Moreover,
here in Nepal, you can witness political activities in all areas, and
educational institutions are no exception. Due to strikes, the university is
closed indefinitely every year. I want a positive environment to study which is
free from politics and only focuses on providing quality education to students
and this is also one of the reasons why I opted for foreign education. The lack
of facilities and infrastructures for students is also another cause behind my
decision to study abroad. That’s why I
thought I wouldn’t study in Nepal.
Reason
behind choosing Australia for my Higher Education
I
was lucky enough to have found about “Australia: the land of opportunities”.
Australia has always been a proper destination for education because of its
universities that are regarded best in the world and its best quality education
program for the students. Also being an English-speaking nation; it helps us
international students to learn and accommodate easily with safe, friendly and
harmonious society. Likewise, real life experience of being abroad and learning
international culture, tradition, and lifestyle will not be gained in my
country, Nepal. I also came to know about the climate that is quite suitable
for me, the way people live in Australia and also the racial harmony that
exists there. Also, Australia offers modern transport options and communication
possibilities. The rate of crime is relatively low and many international
students report show that they generally feel safe and comfortable to study in
any field in comparison to other countries like UK, US and Canada. Also,
Australia’s NO GUN policy makes it a more desirable destination for parents’
assurance. The greatest attraction of Australia for me is its practical and
competitive educational system. The wide range of course content, innovative
methods of teaching and learning focus on real life application of what
students learn are some of the aspects of Australian educational system that I
think will make my study in Australia one of my most valuable assets in life.
According
to my research I found that Australia is a diversified country with modern and
highly educated culture. Australian education system is top ranked in the
world. Degree from Australian schools is recognized all over the world. This is
due to the impressive international reputation of the Australian education
system, which is highly regulated by their government in order to keep up with
the high standard of education in the country. Seven out of 100 universities in
the world are Australian. It provides diverse range of study options for
international students, with more than 1200 institution and over 22000 courses
to choose for undergraduates and postgraduates. Australian universities are
widely recognized for excellence in many disciplines.
Australian
courses are often shorter than alternatives in other countries, particularly in
the US. Most Australian bachelor degree courses can be completed in three years
and even less if the education provider works on trimester system. This means
that you can save a whole year’s tuition fees if you choose to study in
Australia rather than in the US or UK. Similarly, I also found ESOS act
(Education Service for Overseas Students) and TPS (Tuition Protection Service).
ESOS framework protects the rights of international students studying in
Australia and it sets out the standard that Australian education provider must
have to provide and offer quality education, training and service to the
international students whereas TPS assists the international students whose
education providers are unable to fully deliver their proposed program and TPS
ensures that international students are able to either complete their studies
in another course or with another education provider or receive a refund of
their unspent tuition fees.
In
the light of the whole pandemic situation, Australia remaining patient without
being panicked and giving equal opportunities of vaccination to international
students as well, made me validate my decision of studying in Australia. The
overall conclusion is Australia is safest and international student welcoming
country where I can study and gain practical experience.
The other reasons to
choose Australia for my education are:
- Australian
universities are renowned for their outstanding research abilities and
success in fields including the humanities, sciences, and education.
Australia is proud to have made numerous significant scientific
advancements, including the development of penicillin, IVF, and Wi-Fi. Due
to this, Australia is a fantastic destination for overseas students.
Whether you want to do your own research or learn from the best in a
bachelor's degree program.
- With
a sizable number of international students, Australia is one of the
countries with the most diversified cultures in the world. As a result,
you will study alongside international students and have access to a lot
of home comforts, such as cinemas, grocers, and restaurants. According to
the QS Best Student Cities ranking, Australia is also home to some of the
top student cities. Melbourne, a cosmopolitan city, came in second
position, ahead of places like London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and
Singapore. Fourth-placed Sydney was followed closely by Brisbane,
Adelaide, and Perth.
- It
ensured high-quality instruction through professional learning
initiatives.
- Employers
and prestigious educational institutions in many nations throughout the
world accept Australian credentials.
- The
atmosphere is calm, although the government's policies are outdated.
- Scholarship options are available in Australia for outstanding students.
REASONS FOR CHOOSING
AUSTRALIA AND NOT OTHER COUNTRIES (UK, USA):-
USA:
I have pondered seriously on overseas studies and conducted a series of
research in hope of finding an institution which would provide me the kind of
education that I am searching for. I looked out studying in USA; USA of course
is the most popular study destination for the students like me to dream of
their career have a head start with. USA provides Bachelor of Computer Science
colleges like: Kent State University
(USD 36,428 annually), Pennsylvania State University (USD 33,664) and University of Illinois at Chicago (USD
28,258). Compared to AUS$, the exchange rate for US dollars is also
greater. Most Bachelors’ program at USA also requires a standardized test like SAT
and GRE these were very expensive for me to study set apart the living costs.
Also, the crime rates in USA have been gradually increasing day by day.
UK:
I also ventured for studying in UK, which is also one of the best destinations
in the terms of education and its quality. I
found some universities providing Bachelor of Networking, Coventry University (GBP 46,800), University of Birmingham (GBP
63,540), University of Portsmouth (GBP 47,700) and Durham University (GBP 72900) which accounts to AUD ranging from
87,305 to 1, 35,994. Apart from the tuition fees, the living standards are also
high in UK. Every one of us is known to the fact that the visa process of UK is
complicated than that of Australia and other countries. Additionally, because of the high exchange rate,
living and educational costs in the UK are much higher than in the US and
Australia.
Canada: One of the primary reasons I didn't choose Canada over
Australia is because of its extremely cold winters, which endure for 6 to 8
months even though Canada is recognized for its warmth and accepting
environment for its immigrants. Being happy and productive in harsh winters
like those in Canada, where the temperature can drop as low as -30°C, is
something I can't fathom.
I also did a research on various countries like Japan, China and other European Countries like Germany, Italy, France, etc what I
found here is that I should take an extra language class in order to study in
this countries, which will be really time consuming.
That is the reason why I choose Australia for my further studies.
SYDNEY AND ACCOMODATION
ARRANGEMENTS
Sydney
is the biggest city in Australia with population more than 4.5 million people.
It’s the capital of New South Wales and situated in South-West coast of the
country. Studying in Sydney opens new horizons for everyone who chooses it for
studies. Sydney is home to many top educational
institutions, including Macquarie
University, the University of New South Wales, the University
of Sydney, the University of Technology Sydney and Western Sydney
University. Sydney currently has 5 universities in the QS World University
Ranking, with the University of Sydney and the University
of New South Wales in the global top 50. Apart from the sunshine, food culture
and relaxed lifestyle that everybody enjoys, Sydney has been rated as one of
the top student cities in the world. That’s why it takes pride as one of the
top destinations for international students. Sydney has a large number of
students from India and elsewhere in Asia, making for a multicultural student hub that’s why my prime area for
accommodation would be around Sydney and as near as possible to the college. I
have consulted a number of websites for my residence options and the results are fascinating. I have found Scape Ambercrombie, Urbanest
Darling Square, Urbanest Cleveland Street staying options where the rents start
from 181.75 A$ and can peak over to 458A$ per week. Finding the results as
quickly helped me validate my decision of staying and studying in Sydney.
However, the costs can always be minimized if I chose to share the rentals with
my fellow friends.
WHY KENT INSTITUTE
AUSTRALIA OF AUSTRALIA: -
I
have spent the most time researching and I went through different portals like
that of IDP-Find a course and Hot courses abroad . There was range of courses being
provided from VET programs to foundation studies to Bachelor’s degree in
Australia. Some were provided by university itself in its subsequent colleges,
whereas some were being provided through independent institutes. Starting off
with the universities, I found University of Technology Sydney, Charles Sturt
University, University of Wollongong, Macquarie University, Torrens University,
Western Sydney University and many more providing different fields VET Programs
in Information Technology, Network Security, Information and Telecommunications
Technology and Computing. But all of these universities cost start from the
minimum of 19,000 AUD and that too for a year which is comparatively higher
when studying Diploma programs lasting a year or two.

https://pokrelsop.blogspot.com/2022/12/sop-of-master-of-education-and.html
On
looking into the institutes, I mostly found the colleges exclusively providing
VET programs and scarcely higher education. There are well known and popular
colleges like KOI , Kent Institute Australia , International Institute of Business and Information technology (IIBIT) , Australian Technical and Management College (ATMC) which are known to impart the course of Bachelor of Information Technology to
the international students.
On comparison, location wise, affordability wise, course structure wise and facilities wise, I found that KENT INSTITUTE is a perfect college for me. The course fees offered by KENT INSTITUTE , i.e., Bachelor of IT was reasonable according to the length of study and the coverage of courses. The college offers innovative state of the art courses which are all approved as meeting the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
The
major reason behind choosing KENT INSTITUTE is because of the proper student
support the college provides for both domestic and international students. I
also extremely liked how informative the webpage was not letting me hindered in
any part of it. Student like me going abroad for the first time, we are really
in need for a proper student support which KENT INSTITUTE is committed about.
The institute ensures that every student is supported with their course and
study experience. We can access these services to assist with areas such as
academic support, counseling support, mentoring from trainers, referral to
external support services, medical, legal services referral or any other
general student matters which is a big relief for me. I am eagerly looking
forward to start my new student life in Kent Institute Australia.
WHY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY?
The
increasing digitization of Australian businesses’ operations across all sectors
of the economy has resulted in greater integration between ICT functions and
broader business operations. I find it fascinating the influence of the
Computer Science and digitalization has hugely brought and has a great
difference on how the yesterdays and the today’s time functions. A few years
ago, if autonomous vehicles were to bring in conversation, the idea would have
been doubted, yet we are here with an autonomous car already introduced for our
easiness. Now we have come to a stage where nearly anything would be possible
if a creative human mind gets along with the intelligence of the computer
systems. One of the greatest fields of computer science that I have my interest
on is Information technology (IT) and which is why I want to pursue the course.
IT has made an extraordinary change because it has completely changed the way
we look at things. The possibilities of technology are endless and will help
the world progress further. This has expanded career options and opportunities.
Information
technology involves a combination of hardware and software that is used to
perform the essential tasks that people need and use on the everyday basis. IT
was in my curriculum even from my secondary level schooling. I once studied in
a course book of one of my friend pursuing her bachelor’s degree; the birth of
IT took place in a war-like situation where an airplane was designed in such a way
that retrieves information from its front end and passes it to the back end
where the canon would be released from its back end. IT is one such topic that
includes new technologies, and its definition changes over time. This
profession has fun, creativity, and money. In the future, I dream of working
for an IT professional or other well-known IT company. Also, with few qualified
IT professionals on the market, the demand for IT professionals will increase
in the coming days. My visual imagination while reading the book and the
thought of me being able to do something like that in near future shot an arrow
of Dopamine through my veins.
Apart
from these there are also several outcomes of IT. Some of the outcomes are:
·
Design
and develop software solutions for modern business environments by applying
appropriate problem-solving strategies.
·
Systems
development
·
Teamwork
and self-management skills
·
Communication
skills
· Configure and administer database servers to support contemporary business environments.
VALUE
OF COURSE TO FUTURE
The Bachelor
of Information Technology offers a broad understanding of the concepts and
practices of information technology and information systems, supported by
related areas in data science and technology management. The course focuses on
preparing students for the challenges of IT careers in the modern business
environment, specifically preparing students for roles in programming, software
development, network administration, web development, business analysis,
database administration and systems administration. In specific, it appeals to
aspiring ICT professionals, as the knowledge gained and skills developed and
practiced are in individual and small team learning environments.
The
Bachelor of Information technology ensures that graduates have a depth of ICT
technical knowledge and the skills required of an ICT professional along with
the knowledge in the business world. As a result of the degree, graduates will
be able to critically analyze organizational ICT problems, solve complex
real-world problems and work both individually and part of a professional team
to deliver ICT services in a fast-changing global world. After the graduation
from the course, I have a range of opportunity to choose from. I can work any
post that I would like including the popular posts like: as analyst programmer, web developer,
database administrator, business analyst, software and applications programmer,
systems analyst and ICT security specialist. I am more than assured that these
degrees would not let me be unemployed in any part of the world.
This
study also provides a broad concept regarding Capstone Project (it is the project which identifies a real
existing problem in the real world and the practical knowledge, skills and methods
addresses the problem directly). Thus,
this knowledge gives us the chance to show what we have learned in our studies
and apply that knowledge in real existing problem. Information technology helps
to establish and grow the trade and business sector, and achieve the maximum
possible results. Advances in information technology are currently minimizing
the time it takes for different sectors to create a business. It provides
electronic security, storage and efficient communication.
Similarly, students with
IT degree will have the opportunities to be employed in different top level
positions. Some of the positions are:
- Network Administrator
- Technology Specialist
- IT Manager
- Database administrator
- Network engineers
- Technical consultant
What my career plans
are?
After
completing the BIT, I hope to receive a PSW that will strengthen my knowledge
of related fields. PSW provides opportunities to work in Australia for
qualified graduates. Students will be getting a two-year PSW visa. This helps
me to gain international work experience and exposure. It helps to translate
the theoretical knowledge learned into real-life experience. My first and
prioritized plan to carry out with this degree is flourishment of my mother’s
business in technical aspects. I even have a project for the Capstone Project
in my mind; of creating an inter-web payment gateway for my mother’s business
and putting the platform online as there is a digital world now. I would also create
a different accounting tab so that the mathematics and calculations will never
go wrong in the business. Moreover, I will also work on cattle management and
product management which will perform the tasks like taking tabs on numbers of cattle;
goats and sheep and birds as of now, sales, and products produced from the
cattle like wool, and also analyzing the additional needs for rearing cattle
along with some notification for their food, cleanliness and mating.
While,
my mother’s business would always be my priority to make it better and advanced
and someday hopefully, the business would bloom like a franchise business; I
would also like to design services for different other business and help them
to grow in technical aspects.
In
the last decade, technology has exponentially grown and computers are now
embedded in our environment, in our personal and professional life. With the
accelerating growth of technology and the boosting need for information,
innovative computer scientists will be critical to develop new solutions,
software and applications. I want to be part of this exciting technology
challenge.
The
total 3 years amount of exposure and experience in Australia will compare to
5-6 years of working experience if I had to stay and work in Nepal, which is
why I am stressing the current investment with 20-40% additional Return on
Investment when I will be back in Nepal. I have desired to influence and
support business using information technology. The quality of education I will
get from Australia will definitely assist me to build my future career.
Likewise, I have already mentioned that ICT has a good scope worldwide; one can gain numerous jobs in various platforms and positions. The jobs that are normally hold by ICT graduates are Senior Java developer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine learning, PHP trainer, Word Press (PHP), Android Trainer, Technical Lead (.Net), Application developer, VB Developer, iOS, etc. They can also be known as the highly payable jobs in our country. No people in country have to stay unemployed with the knowledge of IT. These mentioned jobs are only few, there are many other reliable jobs available as Network security specialists, E-security or ICT Security Specialist, Systems/network Administrator, Network Security Analyst, Senior Network Administrator, Systems Security Analyst etc. Being a successful and competent student holding an international degree can easily open out a range of opportunities to me to opt for international jobs with international multinational companies like Kelly Services, TEK System, Dell, Eagle, Google, Adobe, Face book, Apple, Sales force to name a few. It would be dreams come true for me if I get opportunity to work with these companies. The establishment of IT parks throughout the world and even in my home country (Info Tech Park or IT Park) provides appropriate opportunity to the IT professionals. Nepal has witnessed a revolution in the establishment of IT companies’ grateful largely to the concept of digital world and globalization.
REASONS TO RETURN HOME
COUNTRY, NEPAL: -
Being raised in the joint family lovingly by my elders, they have gone against the stereotypical societal norms and have always encouraged me to go for what I desire. I have seen my father dedicate his all life to his work and raising his standard of living in his own land and he has instilled same quality of his into me.
Australia aims to acquire knowledge and diversify new skills and creativity in order to realize my dreams. Other than that, I have no intention of staying in Australia. With dignity and respect, I can lead a better life in Nepal. My Australian qualification strengthens my resume and helps me compete in the market during my career building process. Given how quickly the IT and networking industries are developing, qualified applicants have countless opportunities. So I can work with good awareness in Nepal. The lack of knowledge in this field makes it very challenging to obtain a professional position in an international IT department, yet I believe that international degree holder are successful over here in Nepal.
I also am well- known to the fact that our country needs more students who are familiar with advanced technological knowledge. Especially in the field of the security domain, there are only a few professionals working in this field. There is a massive scarcity of Infosec Professional. Hence, I aim to establish my mother’s business back in Nepal, focusing mainly in software engineering at its initial phase and later keep on developing and advancing in other aspects of education, networking and security. I would never wish to let any other students hinder in their studies and have to travel longer distances leaving their loved ones behind in search of better education. I eventually wish to provide any kind of aid to the general public of Nepal as per my potential. With this aim, I would like to return to my motherland.
