SUBJECT: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

 

I am XXXXX, a permanent residence of XXXXX and currently residing in XXXXX. I am last born child of my parents, born on XXXXX. My father, XXXXX and my mother, XXXXX are my sponsor for my three years’ Bachelor ofInformation Technology (BIT) in Australia. My financial condition is strong enough for covering entire expenses for my higher education in Australia. I intend to study in XXXXX, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia with full financial and moral support of my parents. I am very happy in receiving scholarship of 20% based on my academic performance in 10+2 from XXXXX.

Regarding my academic background, I graduated my school secondary level from XXXXX with XXXXX in 2015 A.D. Then I joined XXXXX for my higher Secondary level where I completed my 10+2 in Science Stream majoring in Physics with XXXXX in 2017AD. As I was preparing for IELTS examination after giving final examination of 10+2, I have appeared my IELTS examination on 14^th of December 2017 and scored an overall band score of 6.0 (6.0 on listening, 5.5 onreading, 6 on writing and 5.5 on speaking).

At the meantime after finishing 10+2 studies, I was doing research through internet and education consultancies for BIT program in various education destinations like USA, UK and Australia for my higher education. Though I found pretty similar courses in USA, UK, Norway, due to various factors like course structures, living cost, tuition fees, cultural barriers, language barrier and so on, I finalized Australia for my higher education. After doing enough research and screening all the issues related to each destination and even of Australia, I applied for the offer letter in MIT/XXXXX and received the letter. I applied for Bachelor of Information Technology in MIT for March intake 2018.

Another reason to consider going to Australia as an international student is because there is a lot of scholarship available for deserving students. The Australian government welcomes potential international students with open arms and they actually offer up to $250 Million a year in scholarships, grants and other financial aid that is specially set aside for international students. Furthermore, Australian Government have made strong law called Education Services for Overseas Students Act (ESOS ACT 2000) which is the direct way to invite international students with full support in order to protect rights of international students. The ESOS act framework protect the rights of international students studying in Australia including right to receive, before enrolling, current and accurate information about courses, fees, modes of study and other information from the institution and institution agent. Australia also protects the tuition fees of international students through Tuition Protection Service(TPS). The TPS assists international students like me whose education provider are unable to fully provide their course of study and ensures that international students are able to complete their studies by transferring students in another course or with another education institution or student receive a refund of their tuition fees from their education provider.

With aim of becoming future Network Officer or System Analyst and gaining international degree, I didn’t choose my home country Nepal for various reasons. Talking about my home country Nepal, I have researched almost all universities that offerBachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Courses and also focused in giving entrance exam which are at Tribhuwan University, Mokahara University, and Kathmandu University. In this regard, I also visited few of the colleges like Kathmandu College of Management and Institute of Technology, Kathmandu Model College, Softwarika College, British College and so on.  I hardly could find similar course of contents in my home country in available course providers, no any course providers provide wide areas of specialized subjects, which I have found in XXXXX. Though I may be able to gain a degree here in Nepal from one of these universities, but I will fail in gaining internationally recognized degree which would hold an international exposure. Also, the course curriculum isnot updated as per need of time and courses are very specific and limited. Furthermore, education system in my home country still practice theoretical approach rather than practical one, whereas as per my research Australian education is based on ways of practical teaching and learning system with modern technology-based infrastructures. So, it is worth it to get high quality education in affordable fee in international standard. Additionally, student with Australian degree are offered excellent job opportunities around the globe. But, Nepalese degree is not globally recognized than that of Australian one. And the education standard in Australia indistinctly higher in comparison to my home country Nepal.

I even overlooked other countries like Germany, Norway because of the language barrier, I did not find these countries fruitful to approach for higher education. As English is commonly used language in Australia, I will not have face communication problem.

Likewise, I also did few research through internet and education seminar in my home country for higher education in USA.I come to know that in USA, we have to go through additional test like SAT to enroll in US universities it also consumes more time to prepare and complete. Also, bachelor degree is for 4 years in USA whereas Australian degree is for 3 years which saves my one year. And the second most popular destination is UK having frequent alternation in immigration policies for students which led to be aware for not choosing UK. Also, the currency rate of USA and UK is higher than of Australia in conversion to Nepalese Rupees, which make living and education there expensive. For instance, 1 USD is equal to NPR 103 approximately, 1 UK pound is equal to NPR 138 approximately and 1 AUD is equal to NPR 78 approximately. It shows that Australian education seems affordable to me than American and British.Moreover, Australia is better in terms of better health and security than the many countries in the world, due to why my family also favors my decision to study in Australia.

To be honest, it was not an easy task to choose one university over wide range of university in Australia. I had to go through many websites to do research. I visited educational fairs and representatives from universities and also surfed information from friends studying in Australia itself. After going through all the research and suggestions, I have come to conclusion is the place where I can fit in really well as I donot want to compromise with the quality of education and settle for anything less than the best.

I have chosen XXXXX as my education provider for my higher education. XXXXX was established in 1870 as Ballarat School of mines and technology. It became University of Ballarat in 1994 and in 2014 it became XXXXX with the merger of Monash University Gippsland campus and University of Ballarat. It is one of the 3rd oldest education providers in Australia, it is one of the best and leading well recognized university in Australia is rated 5 stars for teaching quality by Good Universities guide also with 4-star rating for graduate satisfaction by good universities guide. Its Teaching facilities and equipment meet the very highest standards having well managed educational system, homely surrounding and more over quality education which has led me to pursue best academic achievements provided from this University. As a sum up having great long history with quality education and affordable cost it is a best choice and honor for international students like me to enroll in this university.

Furthermore, I have chosen MIT as my study center for my higher education. MIT was established in mid 1990s and has campuses in Melbourne and Sydney in Australia and is the first regional multisector University in Australia. It provides the courses that I have keen interest on which is Bachelors of Information Technology. MIT has established itself as of Australia’s most inclusive institute catering to the highest achievers and has affordable fees. MIT, Melbourne is the campus with largest population which is located at the heart of Melbourne. MIT welcomes students from all belief and background which will allow me to interact with every kind of people. The university provides equal access to education to every student with small class size with 20 to 30 students per class without discrimination. MIT offers first class facilities, dedicated teachers, it doesn’t only provide good academic trainings to the students but also gives attention to extracurricular activity which makes the life in university well rounded and enjoyable. More importantly, the university conducts its activities in accordance with ESOS ACT 2000.

 

Moreover, MIT has several facilities such as state of the lecture theaters featuring the latest presentation and audio-visual equipment, high tech multimedia labs, wireless networking is installed on the campus to enable students to connect their laptop to the internet facilitated library etc. It also provides various services to International students like airport pick up, accommodation suggestion, counseling, advisors to help in studies, orientation to familiarize students to university and many more. MIT will help to enhance my knowledge and skills regarding the career I am to pursue. I would like to assure you that I will make the best out of it and I am confident that I will be able to have a good professional career after completing the required career from MIT.I also researched about several universities but they were not satisfactory.

They do not offer wide ranges of major subjects like XXXXX has and also tuition fees are comparatively more as well.

 

Additionally, I also did not wish to proceed for bachelor of Networking program in MIT college, even though tuition fee is affordable than that of XXXXX, after analyzing course structure, I got convinced for XXXXX.

I wish to begin my higher education in Information Technology, whichis the subject that mostly deals with relaying information by the use of technology. It is a challenging and rapidly developing field, with new applications being developed to enhance the environment we live in. Students develop an understanding of the underlying principles and applications of Information Technology in the acquisition of professional knowledge and skills which will enable them to adapt to this interesting and dynamic field as professionals.

Moreover, the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) offers a complete grounding in all aspects of the Information Technology (IT) industries including programming, system analysis and design, multimedia development and usage, database development, networking and communications theory, computer security and technology management. It provides opportunity to study some of the issues confronting the ICT industry, including employee obligations, employee rights, impacts on society, and future directions of the industry.

I am confident that Bachelor of Information Technology program will provide me with a fundamental knowledge of IT and allow me to keep my options wide open in the IT industry in the world based on modern technology sector it enhance an individual skill to develop a key solution to every problem. IT is one of the course, which I am thrilled with having learned wed designing programming algorithms from my secondary levels from school. I believe as per my interest on IT sector this chosen course will equip me with all needed skill, experience and qualities to compete in.

Course Structure of the chosen program (BIT)

The course I chose consists of 24 units and is normally 3 years full-time. 15 core units and 9 elective units make up the course structure. The core units are designed to cover the material that is needed in order to become an IT professional. Elective units may be chosen from any area, and may form a sequence within the course. No more than 3 elective units may be taken at an introductory level.

Each subject contains 15 credit points and total of 360 credit points after the completion of program.

Regarding my future career plan, as soon as I finish my Bachelor degree in Information and Technology program from MIT/ XXXXX, I will return back to my home country as soon as I finish my intended course from MIT/XXXXX, either plan to work as a Network Administrator or a Software Developer or System Analyst in a leading national or multinational companies or telecom such as Deer Walk Service Pvt. Ltd., Mercantile Communication Pvt. Ltd., Link Tree Pvt. Ltd., Nepal Telecom (Government based company), NCELL (Nepal’s leading private telecom company), World Link, Subisu Cable Net, Verisk Information Technology Pvt. Ltd. and so on. I will be offered handsome salary scale range from NRs. 45,000 to 55,000 in any of the above-mentioned multinational and national IT based Companies depending upon the nature and size of the companies.

As per my best knowledge of understanding as of now, Information Technology has been used in almost every sector. So, citing the job opportunities back in my home country, I can also seek my professional career as an IT officer/Consultant in various other areas as stated below as an alternative employment opportunity: -

• Banking and Financial Institutions

-          Himalayan Bank, Laxmi Bank, Asian Development Bank, Nabil Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Kathmandu Finance, Kantipur Finance and so on. 

Furthermore, I do have strong desire and obligations to come back my home country and to obey the family responsibilities. As being the youngest son of my parents, definitely I will also have to look after them in their old age. As I have all my relatives, friends, family members in my home country and I have an obligation to fulfil, I will come back to my country and will remain with my family beginning a beautiful professional career. Additionally, I will also have to look after of our family assets, which will be shared between me and my brother in near future. As, my family has supported me for investing their fund on me for my further education, with my strong dedication of time and best effort, I will be able to get the expected return on investment back in my home country while I start my professional career in long run.

My understanding towards Visa Rules Under 500 Visa subclasses

·         I need to maintain minimum 80% of attendance.

·         I cannot work more than 40 hours per fortnight when course is in session and unlimited hours when there is term break.

·         I need to clear 50% of subjects in each term.

·         I need to maintain health insurance during my study stay in Australia.

·         I cannot change the University for 6 months upon enrollment.

·         I must notify to University/DIBP within 7 days if I change the address/contact details and so on.

Lastly, I have expressed all my genuine purpose and intention of studying in Australia through this Statement of Purpose (SOP) and I believe as being genuine, hardworking and honest student, I will finish my course in appropriate time with better grade to achieve my future goal back in my home country which will make myself and my family proud and will also be contributing towards my nation.
