STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction

I am thankful to the XXXXXX for providing me this opportunity to present my statement of purpose for a student visa and talk about my future goals and plans.

I introduce myself as XXXXXX, permanent resident of XXXXX. I was born on January 7, 2001. My father XXXXXX is an Accountant and my mother XXXXXX is a hatchery supervisor. XXXXX is one of the rapidly growing cities of the western part of Nepal.

After submitting relevant documents and paying necessary fees, I received a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) from XXXXXXNSW, to pursue a Diploma of Applied Commerce leading to Bachelor of applied commerce with major in Accounting.

I am writing this application to apply for an Australian Student Visa Subclass 500.

Family Background

My family is small, educated and financially in a good position. There are four members in my family, including my parents and a brother. I am the youngest son of the family. My father, XXXXXX, works as an Accountant in XXXXX and my mother, XXXXXX, works as the Supervisor in XXXXX and XXXXX. My elder brother XXXXX is working as an accountant in XXXXX.

As my parent wanted me and my brother to gain quality education I completed my schooling and secondary level from the capital city of Nepal.

Educational Background

I passed my School Leaving Certificate Exam from XXXXX in 2016 AD with GPA XXXX and passed my Higher Secondary level from XXXXX, Kathmandu with GPA 2.92 in 2018 AD. After completing my Higher Secondary level, I wanted to gain a qualification that is valued globally and with the concept of getting quality education I started my research about higher studies in Nepal as well as abroad. Since my family has close relationship with accountancy (my father and brother both are accountants), I wanted to make a career out of the same subject and researched about its possibilities in the Nepali market. I came to know that with an international degree in the subject, I will have much better chances for myself. To be prepared for abroad studies I joined IELTS preparation classes and took a test on March 14, 2019. I scored an overall band of 5.5 in the IELTS examination.

Why Commerce and Accounting

Business has come to have a global impact these days. Various multi-national companies related to airlines, electronics and food chains are growing globally as well as in my country. Accounting is an integral part of business. It provides information of financial nature, which is used in making economic decisions. Therefore, accounting is useful for investors, management, government, suppliers, finance companies etc. Business accounting helps in making a number of short term and long term business decisions which helps an enterprise to grow as well as penetrate in market.  The course I am planning to study will surely help me to build up my problem-solving skills, analysis and operational activities in various organizations smoothly. I have chosen to study Diploma of Applied Commerce (Course Code: HE20531) at XXXXXX for one year, leading up to a three-year Bachelor of Applied Commerce (Course Code: HE 20532). I chose this subject mainly because I am a commerce student and I have completed my plus two examination from management section. This course will help me develop skills in management, marketing, law, economics and business as these subjects are included in any of the two majors-Accounting and Financial Planning- under this course. I see a great career for me after I complete the course.

Bachelor of Applied Commerce in XXXXXX:

“The Bachelor of Applied Commerce is a three year degree for people who want to work in the financial services sector. We can select to major in accounting or financial planning, or we can do a double major. Not only has this course been developed in consultation with industry to ensure we get the knowledge and skills that employers want, we will do an industry placement in third year which will give us practical experience in a workplace setting, and helps us establish valuable industry contacts.

Careers in the financial services sector are diverse and graduates can find themselves working in a variety of settings depending on which major they have completed. By doing some additional subjects, students can graduate with a double major- accounting and financial planning. To receive the Bachelor of Applied Commerce - Accounting Major students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units. Additional units contain compulsory and elective units which may vary between each semester and campus, and will depend on a number of considerations including the packaging rules for the qualification and demand for the unit. I have always been interested in studying commerce. Since my father is also an accountant and earning well, I got interested to study similar subject after passing my SLC. I was looking for a suitable institution abroad when I came to know about XXXXXX. The Bachelor of Applied Commerce- Majoring in Accounting (Course Code: HE20532) is a three year degree that prepares graduates for employment in the financial services sector. The course has been designed with input from the financial services industry ensuring that students are well placed to find jobs after graduation. We can choose either an accounting major, a financial planning major or complete a double major. I have chosen Accounting as my major. Subjects in management, marketing, law, economics and business statistics are included in both majors to ensure we have the full range of knowledge and skills required to work effectively in the financial services industry.

reasons for not choosing Nepal for further study

Before choosing to study in Australia, I did some research on some colleges of Nepal like DAV Global College and King's Management College . The DAV Global College provides courses like Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Business Studies. King’s College offers a BBA program for students who want to specialize in Marketing, Finance or Human Resource Management. Many other colleges and universities also provide knowledge in the field of management and business. However, we don’t have any colleges/universities that give special knowledge in Accounting. Additionally, the courses in colleges/universities in Nepal are outdated which ignore the changing environment. As I have chosen to study accounting, the choices about studying it in my country are limited in a few Universities and the course provided by these universities is general without any specialization. They are also taught in a very traditional style of, i. e. lecture method. There is also a lack of high-tech multimedia, libraries, good audio-video equipment, big lecture theatres and presentation halls. Moreover, the graduates of these courses in Nepal are failing to be placed in good jobs. It is because the resources in Nepalese institutions are limited and the degree is not as recognized as an Australian degree. Achieving an Australian degree would definitely help me become capable, independent and enable me to do something for my home country, because there are better opportunities when we have internationally recognized degrees. Even multinational companies in Nepal look for internationally qualified workers. Therefore, I have decided to study abroad and have better career opportunities in the future. This is the reason why I want to get an international degree.

Choosing Australia over other countries

I did some research about various other nations like USA, Japan and other European countries and even my neighbor countries like India and China. USA and UK are very desired education destinations. However, to get admission in proper universities in USA and for scholarship, TOEFL and SAT test are required. This takes additional time and cost.  It has the world’s largest number of international students and variety of courses, but the enrollment system is lengthy and difficult. In regard to Canada, research shows that the climatic conditions can go extreme reaching up to -30DC. For enrolling in a few countries like Germany, Spain, France, Japan, etc., we need to pass a regional language exam which discourages students as it takes a lot of time to pass the tests. In Australia, on the other hand, IELTS, as well as PTE, is accepted as an English Test for admission. Apart from that, the fee structure is affordable in comparison to other countries like USA, UK etc. There is a lack of PSW opportunity, TPS and ESOS Act in USA and UK. Australia is also a safer country than UK and USA in many factors. Studying in Australia can be an opportunity to establish a strong international professional network by establishing friendships with classmates from around the world. Due to all this reason, I believe studying in Australia will additionally excel my academics and competence so as to compete in the modern corporate world. Australian colleges provide decent environment for students to learn. The technologies and skills used while teaching are the latest ones and programs have industry-relevant courses and syllabus. It has some of the best universities in the world. One of the primary reasons to choose Australia for my study is that it is a leading education powerhouse with some of the world’s best faculties and educators, providing up to date knowledge to both national and international students. The living standard in Australia is high, but the expenses of living are lower than USA and UK. The international students are given an opportunity of internship which helps to develop the overall skill of a student. Most of the courses are covered by the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF), which is authorized by the Australian Government and is recognized in most countries of the world. The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework secures the rights of international students studying in Australia which includes right to receive current and accurate information regarding the courses, fees, modes of study, refund services in case of the institution’s inability to teach the courses specified and other information from the institution and its agent before enrolling. Not only that, Australia has diverse landscapes, beautiful coastlines and modern cities as well as unique marsupials like kangaroos, koalas, wombats and quokkas. In the same way, Australians are kind, generous, friendly and rich in culture and always provide a warm welcome for a new culture. There are plenty of opportunities available for both leisure and pleasure. Therefore, studying in Australia will mean an opportunity for me to visit the natural attraction and enjoy many cultures, foods and music festivals. So it would be an international exposure for me to study with the people all over the world and get globally recognized degree after completion of course.

Reasons for Choosing Sydney

Sydney is the capital city of New South Wales and Australia’s largest city. It is one of the most livable cities in the world which provides a welcoming and multicultural society, excellent education system and vibrant business environment. It is famous for landmarks like Opera House and Bondi Beach. As per information on the internet, it is a fantastic place to live, study and carry out research activities. I also like the fact that Sydney has similar weather conditions with Nepal-neither very hot nor very cold. Another reason for my liking Sydney is that I can fully enjoy the attractions of the city during study vacation and leisure time. The city offers a great chance to explore top global companies, leading professionals and different ways of life and profession. It will provide tremendous learning opportunities for me.

Why XXXXXX

I did some research about a good degree in commerce at Western Sydney University , Kaplan Business School ,

Sydney City College of Management and Box Hill Institute . But when I made comparison, I found that BAC in XXXXXX NSW  is quite unique with very affordable fees (AUD 45,120 against AUD 51,600 in Kaplan Business School for the same course and AUD 6870 in Box Hill Institute for Diploma in Business). The Sydney City College of Management offers only a Diploma Course of Accounting as well.   Besides all this, XXXXXX NSW helps to provide students with various skills to create and manage business solutions. Along with BAC, it also seems to have plenty of other courses that prepare students for very good future careers. This made me feel that I will be able to sell myself in the marked easily with a XXXXXX degree. Studying BAC in XXXXXX in Sydney will prepare me to identify core problems, innovations and strategies in the field of commerce and business. I will be staying in Mary Ann Street, Ultimo, NSW 2007 which will provide me a comfortable transportation to and from XXXXXX. Because of all these reasons, I choose to study at XXXXXX NSW, Australia.

 financial Background:

Talking about finance, it is very important to do anything in life and I was fortunate that my parents never lacked it during my childhood for my education. Though I have my parental home in Tikapur, that has been rented for 12 years and our family is living in the capital city Kathmandu. This is because my parents wanted my brother and me to get the best education in the country. My parents have always been able to support me and will continue to support me in every circumstance. They are also financing my higher educational costs. For my further education in Australia, there is an amount of NRs XXXXdeposited at my father’s account (Account Number:XXXXXXXX) at XXXXXXX. Moreover, a loan amount of NRs. 21, 00,000 has been sanctioned to me i. e. XXXXXX (Account number: XXXXXX) by Bank XXXXX. In this way, the total cash that is available for my expenses in Australia is NRs. 30, 00,000 (NRs three million) which is equivalent to AUD 38,988.83.  This amount is sufficient for the living expenses, tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) during my stay in Australia. My father’s annual income as an Accountant at XXXXX is NRs. 5, 34,000. My mother’s annual income as the supervisor at XXXXX is NRs. 3, 60,000. My brother, who is also working as an Accountant at XXXXX, has an annual income of NRs. 4, 20,000. We also have an annual income of NRs. 7,20,000 from the rental of our house located at plot no. 141 and 142 of ward no. 1 in XXXX. Altogether, my family has an annual income of NRs. 2,034.000.00. The total annual income is equivalent to AUD 26,426.68. Thus, I am financially sound to study and live in Australia for my desired course in XXXXXX.

Reasons why I must come back to Nepal _

We have a small family of four members. My family has always wanted me to study well and do better than others in the family. It is my responsibility to do my part for myself and my family. I wish to become a successful accountant working for any ‘A’ class bank or multinational company and serve the people of my hometown, which is Tikapur Municipality. I will have plenty of opportunity to work in multinational companies, banks or corporate houses, starting with a salary of at least NRs. 50,000 per month. Moreover, I will have to take care of my parental home and property of my hometown as my brother is going to be with his family (once he is married) in Kathamndu because he is already engaged as an accountant of a reputed school. I have no worries about recovering the expenditure on my education and stay in Australia since I inherit large areas of land and property from my parents. But I will definitely have to take care of the property. I also have alternative plans of setting up my own business like hatchery or coffee farming with the available property in the near future.  Moreover, after their retirement, I want to take my parents with me to my hometown to make their life comfortable at their old age. My future responsibility about my parents and parental property will not allow me to think of settling anywhere other than my hometown or outside the country.

Career Plans_

After the completion of this course, I will have international degree and that will give me many opportunities in Nepal. I made some research about Chaudhary Group  about job possibilities. It is the largest multi-national company of our country, which has financial, electronic, hospitality and telecom services spread all over the country and abroad. I will be able to apply for jobs in any of the companies here. I also researched about job possibilities in one of the most trusted corporate of Nepal, i. e. Unilever Nepal. With an internationally recognized accounting degree, I can expect a salary of from NPR. 50,000 to 60,000 per month in the beginning. This can increase to become double after 2-3 years of experience. Besides that, I can also become a successful accountant in any A-level bank after the degree. My primary aim is to work for the betterment of my hometown Tikapur Municipality. When I have an Australian degree in hand, I can get a good job easily and have a better and safe future.

Visa Condition:

I am well aware of my tuition fees, living expense, OSHC fees and traveling expenses during my stay in Australia. My family members come up to sponsor me for my higher education and are also willing to invest me to study in Australia. I belong to a well-established family with a good social reputation. Besides that, my family has a good source of income.

I am also well aware of my visa conditions in Australia and I will strictly follow the conditions. My visa subclass is 500, my attendance should be more than 80%, I can work 40 hours per fortnight and full time in vacations and I have to cover my OSHC fees etc. I am aware that my earning from part time will not cover my tuition fees, living expenses and OSHC fees but I can get some pocket money which can be used for personal expenses i.e. telephone, internet, traveling, stationary and for entertainment and I must maintain my academic grade of at least 50%.

Conclusion

I assure you that I will keep up my promise during my course. I will follow every instruction and order given to me by the college’s representatives and will remain under the laws of student visa condition. I promise to properly utilize my skill and knowledge gained from my institute and will be involved for significant contribution in every possible sector of my country. Being a positive as well as a genuine student, I am applying for a temporary entry to Australia as a student, and I hope you will acknowledge my interest and I will try to achieve every possible milestone in a successful way.
