Statement of purpose
Introduction:
Hello and Namaste, my name is Laxman Tiwari born on XXXXXX,
the youngest son of XXXXXX and XXXXXX, permanent resident of XXXXXX. My marital
status is single till date and hold Nepalese passport of no. XXXXXX. First of
all, I am very glad to share my personal life, academic qualification, family
background and overall career plan and hereby present my statement of purpose.
I am 18 years old dedicated and energetic student willing to pursue my further
studies in Bachelor of Information and Technology(BIT)at King’s Own
Institute (KOI), Australia with the great motivation to be as best as
possible.
Family Background:
Currently I live with my parents altogether with the family
members of five including my father, mother, elder sister, brother and me. My
parents always have been my great source of motivation and inspiration as they
never let me slip away from my career. Similarly, my sister and my brother were
always there to assist me both physically and mentally as a friend. All of my
family members supported my choice to join KOIfor my further studies both
financially and mentally for my better future.
Academic Background:
As concerned to my academic background, I completed my Secondary
Education Examination (SEE), Grade 10 in 2018 with XXXXXX GPA (Grade A)
from XXXXXX located at Jhapa Rural Municipality-o2, Jhapa, Nepal. After
SEE I continued my study and then moved to XXXXXX from where I completed
my XXXXXX in 2020 securing XXXXXX in XXXXXX located at XXXXXX.
Gap Explanation and Language Proficiency:
My High School Examination was supposed to be held on March 2020 but was postponed for eight months due to COVID-19 pandemic and it was rescheduled to be conducted from November 24th to December 1st 2020. The result published on the first week of February 2021. After the result it took a while to study and understand myself to realize my ultimate goals. During this time, I took 6 months long computer course to explore wider in the IT world which includes Office Applications, Graphics Designing and Hardware and Networking from XXXXXX
and IT College located at XXXXXX. The course was conducted from XXXXXX .After that it took me a month to decide where to study.So, after many researches, frequent visits to the internet and many more sleepless nights I made up my mind to study abroad which was well supported by my family.
To reach my ultimate goal I need to had English Proficiency
Test as English isn’t our first language. So, I started preparation formy IELTS
Examination about 5 months and finally took it on XXXXXX and obtained overall
band score of 6.5 by scoring 6.5, 6.5, 6 and 6 on listening, reading, speaking
and writing respectively.
Reasons For Not Choosing Home Country:
As we all know Nepal is developing country where the educational
technical fields are too primitive. The manpower and resources here in Nepal
are very old and limited which always gives challenges to the student. After long
research, I found that the education system in Nepal gives more preference to
its theoretical knowledge than the practical understanding that ultimately
degrade the skills of students and hence cannot compete to the international
standards. On the other hand, the well reputed IT institutions of Nepal like
KIST College, Amrit Science Campus, and Nepal College of Information Technology
provide four years BIT courses which is way too lengthy as compared to the
institutions of other nations like Australia where most of the educational
institutions provide three years BIT course. Also, the well reputed
universities of Nepal are not in the admirable rank in comparison to
international universities which means the degree of Nepal is not strongly
acknowledged in the world.
In Nepal, knowledge is enclosed only in a sheet of paper
because the way they taught students here do not match in the job market due to
which students cannot secure their good future. The quality of education is
remarkably unorganized as compared to the international quality of education.
My course requires tremendous amount of exposure to the use of modern
information and technologies and need hand on experience which I am sure isn’t
very available in Nepal. Furthermore, studying abroad will provide me and
opportunity to compete on international standard. Taking all these things into
considerations, and to secure my future in IT sector, I choose to study
Australia rather than Nepal
Why Not Neighboring Countries:
Reasons for not choosing India:
The Indian education system doesn’t offer practical knowledge
to the students which restricts the student’s potential to grow new skills in
real world. Also, the degree of Indian universities doesn’t hold global
recognition as compared to the foreign ones like Australia, the USA, the UK and
Canada. Similarly, the Indian society is very arrogant and the crime rate there
is too high due to which my family itself doesn’t allow me to study in India.
Reasons for not choosing China:
The one and only reason that discouraged me to study in China
is the need of learning Chinese Language. The official and unofficial language
in China is the Chinese language itself which is considered the oldest and
hardest language ever. So,it is very time consuming for me to learn new
language from the beginning and to excel it which will require long time.
That’s why I didn’t prefer to study in China and started looking for
alternatives.
Why Not The UK, USA and Canada:
Reasons for not choosing USA:
We all are aware of the fact that the education system of the
USA is very well known and systematic all around the globe. However, most of
the educational institution of the USA require SAT, SAT-I, SAT-II tests for the
admission which makes more time consuming for the overall admission process as
we have to prepare for the test. Similarly, the tuition fee in the universities
of the USA is relatively higher than the Australia. Also, the quality of life
is quite not good in the USA and has high crime rates where it isn’t safer for
the student like me who want to study in the friendly atmosphere.
Reasons for not choosing the UK:
The very first thing that disallow me to study in the UK is
because of the high tuition fee and unaffordable living cost. Also, the tuition
fee in the universities of the UK is non-refundable in case if you want to
change the university which is just opposite in the Australian universities
that refund all the tuition fees. Furthermore, the international student’s
policy is unstable and there is no post study work (PSW) visa in the UK which make
easier to take decision that the UK not suitable for me to study.
Reasons for not choosing Canada:
Talking about Canada, the first thing that strike into my
mind is its’ adverse climatic condition. As I am the permanent resident of
Nepal, I love pleasant climatic condition with average summer and winter
temperature. However, the climate always goes beyond the freezing temperature
all around the year in Canada which will surely affect my study and my health.
Another factor that stopped me from applying in Canada is the processing time.
It takes about 4-6 months to get visa of Canada which is way too long also the
process being quite complicated.
Reasons for choosing Australia:
Out of different countries in the world, I found Australia is
the best nation where I can complete my further study. The major reasons behind
choosing Australia are discussed below: -
Varied and Quality Education System:
Australia is home of many universities and institutions where
6 Australian universities are in the list of top 100 international renowned
university. Students often have wide variety of choices with 43 universities in
total, 40 Australian, 2 international and 1 private university which offer
about 22 thousand courses. Also, the education system in Australia is more systematic
and modern where practical knowledge is focused more.
Globally accepted Degree:
Australian degrees are highly reputed and recognized among
the international market. The graduates from Australian universities are highly
accepted in the international level because of the impressive international
reputation of Australian education system. One can go any place on the earth
and get highly payable and respectful job with the Australian degree.
Affordable Tuition fees and living cost:
The cost of pursuing education in Australia is quite cheaper
as compared to the UK, the USA and Canada. This is because of the cheap tuition
fees offered by the educational institutions of Australia. Also, the living
expenses is quite affordable which make me choose Australia rather than other
countries.
Pleasant Weather condition:
The climatic condition of Australia and Nepal is quite
similar which enables me to adapt Australia more easily unlike Canada and the
UK where the climatic condition is very harsh. The pleasant temperature of
Australia will not provide any harm on my studies and can carry on learning
process without any climatic difficulties.
Rights for international students and work options:
The Education Service for Overseas Student (ESOS) has been
implemented to protect the rights of international students studying in
Australia. Also, Tuition Protection Service (TPS) acts as a financial assurance
to international students in regards to their Tuition fees. There is also
provision of Post Study Work (PSW) visa which helps graduates to enhance their
knowledge and implement them in practical work. Similarly, there are part time
job options for international students which help to get work experience and
learn new skills.
Considering all the above facilities and remarkable factors,
I concluded that Australia will be the perfect place for my future studies.
Why Sydney:
After the final decision of choosing Australia as a foreign
study, it didn’t take me too much time choose place in Australia. The first and
only city that came up my mind was Sydney. Sydney, the capital of New South Wales
and one of the Australia’s largest cities, is best known for its Harbourfront
Sydney Opera House and hub of many educational institutions like TAFE NSW,
Excelsia College, Macquaire University, King’s Own Institute and many more.
Sydney has quite favourable weather with more than 200 days sunshine every year,
which is quite same as my home country. Sydney provides quality of life and
affordable price and also a lot of opportunities and facilities in every means.
Being a large city, Sydney has plenty of international
students which will help me to socialize easily. Studying in Sydney will
provide me an opportunity to experience range of different cultures and
traditions. As a large city, there will always be plenty of opportunities for
both work and study. Also, Sydney is the best place to enjoy nature as it is
full of beaches, sea life aquarium, theme parks, gardens and many more natural
beauties which will help getting relaxation after the study. Furthermore, Sydney
is nominated as the fifth safest city in the world by the economist’s safe
cities index 2019 which means I can get quality education enjoying the nature
more safely.
Why King’s Own Institute:
After choosing Australia, Sydney as my final destination, now
the most important decision was to select the educational provider that would
suit my intended course along with the affordability and quality of education.
After a long search through the internet and consulting with many educational
agents, I found different colleges such as KENT institute, IIBIT international institute,
Sydney college, King’s Own Institute (KOI), etc. that offer bachelors of
information technology (BIT) course for me. By making lots of comparison with
different educational institute, I found KOI as the best option for me. The
indicative total cost of tuition fee for BIT is AUD 45,470 for 166 weeks which
is quite affordable for me and my family.

Considering all the facts like affordable fee, quality education and friendly
atmosphere I made my decision to study at KOI.
Reasons for choosing Bachelor of Information and
Technology:
Since my childhood, I was very passionate at modern equipment
and IT related topics. I always had a dream to enroll myself in IT related
courses and finally after my High School I made up my mind to choose BIT at KOI
Australia, Sydney. The world is changing with its great innovations and
technologies where it’s quite obvious that IT related job will be needed in the
near future. This job sector is projected to grow by 13% from 2020 to 2030 with
667600 new jobs according to Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS). That means IT
workers are expected to be in high demand in the upcoming future. After the
completion of IT course, it is not compulsion to enroll in only one certain
field, one can choose as different fields like finance, information, education,
computer design and other related fields.
Another reason for choosing BIT course is that the IT
professionals will eventually make high annual salaries. According toBLS, the
average annual salaries of IT professions like computer support specialist is $
62.,760 and computer and information research scientist is $131,490 in may
2021. Also, IT related jobs are always challenging and give thriller in life
which is one way of enjoying life. I am pretty sure that choosing BIT, I made
one of the best decisions in my life which will help me to extend knowledge and
build new skills. Similarly, studying BIT and specializing it will make me more
creative confident and provide me a whole lot of information which will also
directly help me land a better job. BIT ensures that graduates develop a broad
and coherent body of knowledge in the underlying principles and concepts of
information technology. It provides student with the opportunity to explore and
identify critical IT industry demands and to understand how their demands are
made. The availability of IT jobs in the future, high payable salary of IT
professionals, opportunities to learn new skills are the major reasons which
satisfied me to study BIT for my better future.
Return Back Home Country:
Nepal is gradually developing in the IT sector recently. As
Nepal is becoming modernized is technologies and science, lots of IT jobs are
vacant. After my study and PSW, I don’t see myself permanently residing in
Australia as the jobs related to IT specially in software development is
demanding more professionals in Nepal. I would love to serve my native soil and
utilize my potential here in Nepal for its development. I also have many
responsibilities towards my parents and therefore serve them after my home
return.
As Nepal is changing rapidly in its technological field, the
manpower like me would be a great benefit to the nation and I would feel proud
to contribute my nation in the software development field with my knowledge and
skill that I’ll gain after the completion of my study from Australia. So, in
order to fulfill my duties and responsibilities I’ll return to my nation and
play a key role in development of nation.

to my country being a qualified person. I would consider myself lucky if I am
given an opportunity to pursue my further education in a peaceful and safe
country like Australia.
