Statement of Purpose
My
Introduction
I am XXXXX,
holding passport number XXXXX, born
on XXXXX, and a permanent resident of XXXXX
which is one of the major growing suburbs in the eastern part of Nepal.
Early
Childhood education helps children learn useful life skills which is
beneficial. These skills help children to become more independent. It will
enhance children’s ability to be creative, physical, language and literacy
socially and educationally ready for higher leaning goals. Early child care is an equally important and often
overlooked component of child
development both in developed as well as underdeveloped countries. Relating to my subject of interest, I was
really disheartened when I got to know that there are no any children related
curriculums in my home country which resulted into opting for higher studies in
Australia. I decided to study Certificate
III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CRICOS Code 097758G) leading to Diploma
of Early Childhood Education and Care (CRICOS Code: 108237D) at Global Business College of Australia,
Melbourne CBD Campus (337 La Trobe/ 338 Queen Street), Australia.
I am writing this statement of purpose with an
aim to pinpoint the particular reasons for choosing Australia as my study
destination, along with the reasons for selecting the specific education
provider.

Reason for Choosing Australia for further education
Australia
offers an educational experience that makes a real difference. The education
systems in Australia mainly focus on practical implementation and its approach
to vocational and technical education is now recognized as among the best and
most innovative in the world. Institutions deliver excellence with practical
and career-oriented training. Furthermore, institutions in Australia offer a
wide variety of courses and degrees and we can easily find the fields that are
right for us. Students can also take the advantage of the impressive technology
and research resources.
Australia,
offers a unique kind of education system that encourages one to be innovative,
creative and think independently. Australian degrees are accepted worldwide
which makes international student like me to choose Australia for further
studies. Australian degrees have national and international recognition and
follow the national policy of Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) which
was first introduced in 1995 and its main objective is to supply contemporary
and flexible framework. The quality
assurance system in Australia is unique and international students enjoy an
incomparable level of service and financial security. It provides protection
for international students through the Education Services for Overseas Students
(ESOS) legislation. The ESOS Act sets out the legal framework governing
delivery of education to international students on a student visa. It protects
the rights of international students studying in Australia. Breaches of the Act
are treated seriously and the penalties can be severe. It also provides tuition
protection for international students. The Tuition Protection Service (TPS) is
a placement and refund service for international students. The principle
objectives of ESOS Act and ESOS National Code are to provide tuition assurance
and refunds for overseas students for courses, for which they have paid and to
protect and enhance Australia's reputation for quality training services and
complement Australia's migration laws by ensuring provides collect and report
relevant information to student visas.
Being a student, it is my responsibility to look over for the best education provider destination along with an affordable and vibrant stay, anywhere I go. I found Australia a lively, vibrant country with energetic, friendly people. Multicultural Australia is English-speaking and a safe and friendly society in which students can learn and travel freely. It is a multi-cultural, friendly, harmonious society which values the wealth of cultural diversity. Also, the living standard in Australia is amongst the highest in the world. I will also be permitted to work a part time job, which will enable me to offset my living expenses. Last but not the least, Facilities for teaching, training and research services are world class with outstanding libraries, classrooms and modern technology and Australian degrees are accepted and recognized by employers and leading education providers all around the world including Nepal.
Reason for choosing VET:
Vocation
Education and Training Courses is practical based courses that develop
professional skills helping students to achieve their potential and progress in
chosen field. There is a tendency among students to head straight to university
after completing their high school. This has been the trend for decades as many
believe that it will provide with better career prospects. VET courses are seen
as an alternative to students undertaking university studies. As a result,
students are prepared to enter work force upon graduation. All these
institutions are subject to government regulations to ensure that high quality
education is provided to all the students. The key feature of VET education
providers are small size class, regular intensive discussion with the students
and stake holders, market oriented subject matter and teaching methodology,
practical based teaching, one to one training and assistance and above all
basic facilities needed for students to be successful.
One of
the most important benefits of studying at VET Colleges is it provides
practical programs that teach real life skills rather than just theory.
Completing a lower-level VET qualification is a great way to ease oneself into
study before starting a degree. Colleges offer VET courses with reasonable fee
structure with minimum 2 years duration where I can get enough time for
practical. The VET courses provide qualitative training which the industry
needs with nationally recognized qualification.
Why Melbourne?
Besides,
QS World University Rankings 2022 place six Victorian universities in
the top 400 ranked universities in the world. The University of Melbourne (#37)
and Monash University (#58) are the two Victorian universities in the Top 100.
The 2021 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) also ranks six
Victorian universities in the Top 400, with The University of Melbourne placed
#33 and Monash University ranking #80. Victoria is a global knowledge hub and
we attract the world's best academics and researchers. Whether we study
involves research, technical training, English language or business you'll
learning with the best - on campuses that offer a rich and rewarding student
experience. Meanwhile, Melbourne has a comprehensive transport system of
trains, buses and trams that make getting around the city easier. With the
accessibility of taxis and cycle tracks, the need for a car is
minimal in Melbourne, especially when living in the inner-city. With the
southern maritime climate, Melbourne has a flicky weather with four seasons in
a day but generally has a hot summer and cold and windy weather, Melbourne’s
climate is very favorable for Asian students like me. Melbourne is beautiful,
safe and relaxing. Moreover, the particular feature that I liked about
Melbourne was a 135km extended cycling routes which is still being upgraded by
the Melbourne’s government. I feel it will be rather healthy than travelling in
trains, although there are other means of transportation abundantly in
Melbourne.
Reason for Choosing Early
Childhood Education and Care:
The
focus upon the proper development of children has always been the least
priority of any government so far. The period of birth to six/ seven years of
age in child is regarded as the functional period where a child is developed
mentally, socially, emotionally and physically, but in this mean time, the
concentration which should be upon children is often shifted towards work by
every parents. This bitter truth disheartened me and my urge to become
personnel in Early Childcare became stronger enough to choose it as my career.
Additional
to these, I have always been fond of children and have always wondered their
pious thought and ideas. I understand that if the children are given proper
guidance and are molded in an appropriate way would get a proper foundation to
succeed in later part of life. I suppose, I am a product of the environment I
grew up in, since my hobby of caressing children slowly grew into my personal
interest for career development. I want to help children develop and grow. I
made my attention towards the education of Children and work for their
all-round development. I made my mind to pursue a career in Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care leading to Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
It has a global scope and caring for and educating young children has always
been an integral part of human societies. Unlike other general Child Care Training, quality Early Childhood
Education experiences are vital in developing children’s health,
well-being and learning. Socialization and interaction with peers,
developing cognitive skills to think and problem solve and gaining skills
in early literacy and numeracy are all impacted, effecting future outcomes
in formal education.
Travelling
to Australia for higher education requires credential amount of research and
findings especially in terms of fee to be paid, physical environment and also
other facilities felt necessary for the all-round development of the student. In
this context, I went through various online sites like
I was
attracted to studying at a university at first and found Victoria University
and Swinburne University in Melbourne city. Victoria University did not provide
the course of Certificate III for
international students..
Swinburne University provided the Certificate III of Early Childhood Education
and Care for only 6 months for AUD 8650. The Diploma of Early Childhood
Education and Care course is 1 year that costed AUD 17,300. Altogether,
studying at Swinburne would have taken 1 and half years which was comparatively
shorter period of time than at GBCA.
I then
focused into studying in colleges where I found colleges like: Melbourne City
College, Melbourne Polytechnic, Melbourne City Institute of Education (MCIE),
Holmesglen Institute and Chisholm Institute. Melbourne City College provides
Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care for only 28 weeks, as a
workshop. But only for domestic students , The Melbourne Polytechnic institute has only two intakes February and July
for 2 years, Certificate III for 6 months and Diploma for 18 months that
altogether costs AUD 32,400 meanwhile, GCBA costs me AUD 26,000 for both the
courses for 2 years. Besides, Melbourne Polytechnic also provides Bachelor of
Early Childhood Education and Care but I was not ready to take the higher
education course immediately. . The Melbourne City Institute of Education provided the course for 52 weeks
for 2years and costed AUD 30,000, which was expensive than GCBA. . The Holmesglen Institute on the other hand did not provide the Certificate
III course for international students and only provided Diploma for 1.5 years.
GCBA is
a dynamic, cosmopolitan and nationally recognised training organisation located
in the CBD of Melbourne, the world’s most live-able city. GBCA is devoted to
excellence in teaching, learning, and research. Global
Business College of Australia (GBCA) is a doorway to global educational
opportunities. GCBA is a part of an international education group listed on the
Hong Kong Stock Exchange – Edvantage Group Holdings Limited. With the values
“Innovative Minds, Caring Hearts, Global Skills”, GCBA offers a wide range of
innovative and practical nationally recognised qualifications from certificate
to diploma levels and short course programs. GBCA is
committed to improving students’ practical application abilities and
skills, and providing students with high-quality education services to better
prepare them for the workplace, and enhance employability. There are currently
several programs/tours that students, families, and executives can participate
in to simultaneously experience the culture and history in Australia and
broaden their horizon in a relaxed and interesting atmosphere. Equipped with
advanced technology and teaching facilities,
GBCA
aims to create an innovative and educational platform for students to
interact, collaborate and engage with students of diversified backgrounds and
the broader community in Melbourne, to sharpen students’ cross-culture
communication and understanding as well as practical business skills. All
trainers at GBCA, selected prudently, possess concrete theoretical and
practical knowledge and more importantly, valuable industry experiences
allowing them to incorporate insights derived from real-life workplace
situations into their teaching. Located in central Melbourne, the college is
adjacent to many prestigious institutions, such as the University of Melbourne
and RMIT University. Situated in the midst of large shopping centers and famous
landmarks such as the Victoria state library, the location provides maximum
transportation convenience.
GBCA
listens to industry needs and has extensive links with business
organisations. This ensures that their qualifications are properly aligned.
At GBCA, I will become workforce-ready, armed with the learning skills and
business knowledge required for vocational excellence.
Concluding,
it is located in one of the most accessible areas of Melbourne and is connected
to all the major public transport routes. Moreover, supermarkets, banks, and
post offices are within a few minutes' walk. Altogether, the features of this
college attracted me and I ultimately started dreaming to study in this college
as soon as I found about it.
